Artist's Comments

Acrylic and oil on canvas.

Self portrait against piano. I wanted to study the human form for a downwards angle view.

Layla, I like your self-portraits very much. I think the faces in Dya like me..., and Ripping ..., are very good; and the faces in Famous enough, and What are you looking at are especially good.

What I notice about this painting aside from its interesting perspective and fore-shortening is the face, it is less stylized and more readily seen as your face. It looks to me like a deeper reflection of you.

You have a great eye, I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thankyou very much :-)

Yea this is my more 'serious' work. The quicker, looser paintings are quick jobs, a way of getting emotions straight onto paper if I'm in a particular mood. This took me several months to complete and I'm forever obsessed about improving a more realistic portrayl of the human form.
